Spyware is software that is installed on your computer without your knowledge or is bundled with other software you download from the internet. Spyware can:
- Track what you are doing for marketing purposes
- Reset the homepage and search pages on your browser
- Create pop-up advertisements
- Slow down your computers Internet connection
- Interfere with your computers normal operations
To fight this, Hamline recommends two products which are available for download from the Internet:
NOTE: Adaware is only available for personal use. You need a license for use on a university owned computer.
NB. If you are constantly being bombarded with popup ads then it is very likely that spyware of some sort has made its way onto your system.
