What Is The Circle of Excellence?
The Circle of Excellence is an on-going program whose mission is to introduce and support students as they discover and develop their individual leadership skills. The program is comprised of four distinct levels of leadership development:
Level 1 - The Emerging Leader,
Level 2 - The Involved Leader,
Level 3 - The Empowered Leader,
Level 4 - The Inspired Leader.
Participants complete each level at their own pace and receive a certificate in recognition of their completion of each level.
Level 1 - The Emerging Leader
During the Level 1 experience, participants will develop a higher level of self awareness, develop a personal definition of leadership and explore leadership integrity. Workshops for Level 1 would include topics that cover Cross Cultural Awareness, Values Clarification, Critical Thinking and Stress Management.
Level 2 - Involved Leader
The Level 2 experience provides opportunities for participants to develop community building skills, Workshops for Level 2 could include topics that cover Vision Development, Communication Skills, Problem Solving and Conflict Management
Level 3 - Empowered Leader
Level 3 continues to build on the skills developed during levels 1 and 2. During this level, participants will explore civic responsibility, learn how to empower others and organization assessment.
Level 4 - Inspired Leader
The final level of the Circle of Excellence program, gives participants the opportunity to reflect on their leadership development and plan their next step. Students at this level will learn how to apply and market their leadership experiences. Students will also gain experience in mentoring and small group facilitation.
