Career Development Center Staff

 

Lauren Kavan, Career Counselor

altLauren joined the CDC staff in March 2006. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Macalester College and her M.A. in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology from the University of Minnesota. Lauren has prior experience working with college students as an Ombudsman at the University of Minnesota's Student Conflict Resolution Center and as a Graduate Intern at Macalester College's Career Development Center. 

Rich Manke, Director

With over 18 years experience in collegiate career services, Rich has been Director of Hamline's Career Development Center since 1987.  He also has experience in corporate training and development, advertising sales and self-employment.  He has held a variety of leadership positions with the Minnesota Private Colleges Job Fair, Minnesota Private College Visibility Committee.  On campus he has chaired the campus staff association and served on the University Council.  Rich earned a Bachelor of General Studies degree from Wartburg College and a Masters in Human Relations from Pacific Lutheran University.


Janaya Martin, Programming & Office Coordinator

janayaJanaya joined the CDC team in September 2004. Before joining the CDC, Janaya worked as a Program/Office Assistant for the Mounds View Schools Family Learning Program, an adult basic education program (ABE) for individuals with children looking to obtain a high school diploma or GED.

Terry Middendorf, Associate Director

terryTerry has 14 years of experience in career counseling and placement, including 9 years at the University of Minnesota-Carlson School of Management. He has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Minnesota-Morris and an M.A. in Counseling from Northeast Missouri State University.  His areas of expertise include employer relations, job search issues/strategies, and program development.  Previous positions include Counselor/Internship Coordinator, Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant, and Job Placement Specialist.

Monita Mohammadian, Job & Internship Developer/Internship Program Director

monitaIn March 2005, Monita joined the staff in the CDC. Prior to Hamline, she worked in admissions at Lawrence University for more than 8 years. She has experience in sales, and staff training and development. She has held leadership positions in several professional organizations in conjunction with her work experience. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Lawrence University. She received her master's degree in Educational Policy and Administration-Higher Education at the University of Minnesota, and now is pursuing her Ph.D. in the same program.


Joan Ostergren, Senior Career Counselor

Joan has been a part-time career counselor at the Career Development Center since 1995.  Prior to that, she worked at the University of Minnesota.  She earned a B.A. in Religion from Carleton College, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the Counseling and Student Personnel Program at the University of Minnesota.  She is a licensed psychologist and works part time in a private practice in addition to her work at Hamline University.

Oyuna Uranchimeg, Coordinator for Internships & Administration

OyunaOyuna joined the staff in August 2002. She is originally from Mongolia and she graduated from the University of Mongolia with a B.A. degree in Economics/Management. In the past she has been working as an Interpreter back in her country. She is fluent in English, Russian and Mongolian languages. Before joining the Career Development Center Oyuna worked at H&R Block tax services as an Office Coordinator.

 KyuJin Yon, Practicum Counselor

KyuJinKyuJin joined the CDC as a practicum career counselor for the academic year of  2007-2008. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology program at the University of Minnesota. He has a prior experience working with international students at the International Student and Scholar Services in the University of Minnesota.  He has a M.A. in Counseling Psychology and worked at the Yonsei University Counseling Center in South Korea.
