Welcome, prospective Pipers!
There is more than a century of athletic tradition at Hamline, starting back in 1895 when Hamline played the world’s first intercollegiate five-man basketball game. Since then, Hamline student-athletes have been awarded over 250 All-American performances or named All-American in their sport.
Piper athletes love their sport, want to play in a competitive environment, and value a school that fosters both their academic and athletic success. Find out more about the Piper athletic program and see if it would be a good fit for you! |

About the MIAC
Hamline University varsity teams compete in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), one of the strongest and most competitive NCAA Division III athletic conferences in the nation. The MIAC hosts championships in 22 sports (11 for men and 11 for women). The 13 private colleges and universities in the conference regularly attract top student-athletes from around the nation.

About Division III
As an NCAA Division III school, Hamline student-athletes put academics first, but still get to compete at the highest level. Division III schools do not award athletic scholarships, so receiving financial aid is not contingent on making the varsity team. This allows students to succeed in their athletic career while placing athletics in the larger perspective of personal growth and education.
