Midway Stadium

The Hamline University baseball team calls St. Paul’s Midway Stadium their home ballpark. The Pipers share the facility with the St. Paul Saint’s baseball team. Hamline has played in the stadium since it opened in the mid 1980s.

Midway StadiumMidway Stadium opened in September 1982 at a cost of just over $3 million and originally seated 2,100 fans. Hamline started playing in the stadium shortly after. Prior to Midway, the Pipers had played a majority of their games at Dunning Field in St. Paul.

The Saints started playing at Midway Stadium in 1993, the same year that the Northern League, an independent baseball league, was resurrected. In that year, the stadium was renovated to seat 5,000 in time for the Saints opening day. A further $1.5 million expansion and remodeling project was completed in 1995 bringing the current seating capacity to just over 6,000.

The city of St. Paul owns Midway Stadium and it is operated by St. Paul’s Parks and Recreation division.  Hamline is the only collegiate tenant of the stadium giving the Pipers a great “home field.”

Midway Stadium is located one mile from campus and is an excellent baseball stadium all around. It is 320 feet down each foul line and 400 feet to dead center field. It is roughly 375 feet in the power alleys.
