Drake Arena

Drake ArenaSince the 2005-06 season, Hamline University hosted men's and women's hockey games at Drake Arena on the St. Paul Academy and Summit School campus.

The Pipers moved to the more intimate and fan-friendly Drake Arena from the State Fair Coliseum, where the men’s team had played their home games since the mid-1970s. The women’s team played at the Coliseum since the team’s inception in 2000.

Drake Arena was built in 1967 for the then all-boys St. Paul Academy. The building was named in memory of Dr. Carl Bigelow Drake Sr., who served as the school doctor before he died 1965.

Drake Arena is an enclosed natural ice arena. Ground was broken on the facility in September 1966, and the building was dedicated in January 1967.
