How to Get Started - Master in Public Administration

Cohort Model

The Master in Public Administration program is offered in a cohort format at our Minneapolis Center and other off-campus locations. The program is tailored to meet the scheduling needs of working professionals with evening classes (one night per week), eight-week terms, and online components.
 

Program Requirements / Curriculum

Students in the cohort program are required to complete 48 academic credits (12 4-credit courses).The program is designed to be completed in 2 years. Students join groups of students that start and finish the program together.

    • Foundations in Public Administration (GPA 8000)
    • Professional Ethics (GPA 8010)
    • Organizational Theory and Behavior (GPA 8020)
    • Public Fiscal Management (GPA 8030)
    • Public Policy Analysis (GPA 8040)
    • Human Resource Management for Government (GPA 8050)
    • Administrative Law (GPA 8061)
    • Research Methods (GPA 8070)
    • 3 additional courses TBA
    • Capstone Skills Development for Government (GPA 8490)

Additional Requirements

    • For students with limited economics training: Completion of an economics course is highly recommended.
       
    • For students with limited government sector experience: Completion of an Internship (GPA 8494).
