Master in Management Traditional Model Concentrations and Elective Courses

Concentrations

There are four concentrations within the Master in Management (Traditional Model). Each allows a student to focus more deeply on one area of interest. Students select three elective courses within their chosen concentration. (Concentrations are not required.)

International Management

Building upon a solid foundation of management theory, students from around the world gain extensive experience and skills in real-world global management. The emphasis is on practical, hands-on involvement. Students develop international business plans, create solutions to real-world problems, and work together in diverse teams. Concentration elective courses include:

    • Global Strategy (GPA 8309)
    • International Enterprises & Transactions (GPA 8320)
    • Independent Study in International Management (GPA 8321)

Conflict Management

The Conflict Management concentration is geared toward organizational leaders who need to understand and constructively address conflict as a natural dimension of organizational and public life. Students learn both the necessary theory and practical skills that will help them be more effective in a wide range of organizational settings. Concentration elective courses include:

Health Care Management

Concentration electives include:

    • Survey of Healthcare Systems and Issues (GPA 8227)
    • Health Care Funding (GPA 8310)

Human Resource Management

The Human Resource Management concentration gives managers the tools to create a high performance workplace.  Managers must understand organizational culture, navigate through and implement organizational change, and recruit and retain a talented workforce.  Students will learn to apply advanced human resources and organizational theories to practical situations.  Concentration elective courses include:

    • Organizational Culture (GPA 8208)
    • Managing Organizational Change (GPA 8301
    • Conflict Resolution for Managers (GPA 8334)

Elective Courses

Elective requirements in the Master in Management (Traditional Model) can include courses selected from any of the concentrations or these additional courses:

NOTE: Students may select their elective course from the Master in Public Administration and Master in Nonprofit Management curricula.
