Required Core Courses

Students in the Dual Degree Program in Management and Nonprofit Management (MAM/MANM) complete the following fifteen core courses:

    • Foundations in Management & Leadership (MAM, GPA 8001)
    • Fundamentals of Nonprofit Management (MANM, GPA 8002)
    • Organizational Theory and Behavior (MANM, GPA 8020)
    • Managerial Communications (MAM, GPA 8081)
    • Governance and Planning in Nonprofit Organizations (MANM, GPA 8110)
    • Business Law (MAM, GPA 8063)  
    • Law for Nonprofit Organizations (GPA 8062)
    • Financial Management for Business (MAM, GPA 8031)
    • Financial Management for Nonprofit Organizations (MANM, GPA 8032)
    • Marketing for Managers (MAM, GPA 8101)
    • Fundraising for Nonprofits (MANM, GPA 8362)
    • Human Resource Management for Business (MAM, GPA 8051)
    • Volunteer Management (MANM, GPA 8082
    • Professional Ethics for Business (MAM, GPA 8011)  OR Professional Ethics for Government and Nonprofits (MANM, GPA 8010)
    • Research Methods & Business Applications (MAM, GPA 8071) OR Research Methods and Program Evaluation (MANM, GPA 8072

Elective Courses

Students in the Dual Degree Program in Management and Nonprofit Management (MAM/MANM) complete one or two elective courses, which may be chosen from offerings in management, nonprofit management, public administration, or cross-sector topics.  The number of elective courses required will depend on the student’s choice of a final course.

Final Courses

To complete the Dual Degree Program in Management and Nonprofit Management (MAM/MANM), students may choose from one of two final options:

    • Complete two Capstone courses: Capstone Skills Development: Business Simulation (MAM, GPA 8491AND Capstone Skills Development for Nonprofits (MANM, GPA 8492).  Under this option, students take one electives.
       

    • Complete an Independent Problem Analysis (Master’s Thesis) on a cross-sector issue (GPA 8495).  Under this option, students take two electives

Hamline Dialogues Series

Students in the Dual Degree Program in Management and Nonprofit Management (MAM/MANM) are required to attend at least four of the Hamline Dialogues over the course of their degree studies.  The Hamline Dialogues Series provides a forum for conversation between distinguished guest speakers, graduate students, faculty, alumni, and the community. Topics discussed are of relevance to all sectors: government, business, and nonprofit. Cross-sector involvement allows for an enriched education and networking opportunities. More Information>
