What is a Dual Degree Program in Management?
Dual degree programs allow students to receive graduate training across sectors and disciplines.
With dedicated management degree programs in all three sectors — government, business, and nonprofit — housed in one school, the Hamline University Graduate School of Management is in a unique position to offer cross-sector dual degree programs.
Dual Degree Programs in Management save time and money: By taking courses that cross sectors and choosing appropriate electives, students can complete two graduate degrees in 18 courses or 72 credits—fewer than the 24 courses (96 credits) required to complete the degrees separately.
Who are Dual Degree Programs in Management for?
The Hamline University Dual Degree Programs in Management are for working professionals in any of the three sectors — government, business, and nonprofit, and who seek developing expertise that flows across sectors.
Our students seek dual degrees because:
- They understand that the complex issues of today require a multi-sector approach, with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and private companies all playing critical, but integrated, roles.
- They see that developing skills and knowledge in other sectors can improve performance in their chosen sector and increase opportunities for cross-sector partnerships and collaboration.
- They are, or aim to be, members of what Paul Light of the Brookings Institution calls "The New Public Service" –professionals who are "deeply committed to making a difference," but who are unlikely to stay in one sector throughout their careers. Instead, they develop expertise that flows across sectors.
