Welcome to the Application Process for WaterWorks!:

A Drinking Water Institute for Educators

August 4-6, 2008
Lakeville Water Treatment Facility

18400 Ipava Avenue, Lakeville MN 55044

Please read below before completing the online application.

Do your students wonder how all that clean, safe, economical water gets to your faucet? Your students need to know that drinking water is a valuable, limited resource. Join us in summer 2008 for year eight (9th program) of the award-winning WaterWorks Institute to be held in Lakeville, MN.

Investigate drinking water quality and chemistry and learn about inquiry-based models for your classroom and resources within your community. This intensive three-day, hands-on workshop allows upper elementary and middle school science teachers to come away with new teaching ideas and information from expert presenters about how drinking water comes to your home and classroom. Meals and a resource binder are provided. Choose between two graduate credits or a stipend – both will require your attendance at a follow-up day in fall 2008 (date to be determined by group).

Teachers from the Twin Cities Metropolitan Region will have priority in the selection process, but science teachers from anywhere in the state may apply.

Join the more than 175 science teachers that have participated in WaterWorks! over the last seven years and make plans to integrate the topic of drinking water into your science curriculum.

The WaterWorks Institute is co-sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Health, the American Water Works Association and Hamline University's Center for Global Environmental Education. For more information on WaterWorks! visit http://mnawwa.org/education/youtheducationprogram.html.

Thank you for your interest in WaterWorks! At this time, the 2008 institute is full.
