Admission
EdD learning-communities start in the fall of odd-numbered years. There are several application-admission cycles for the next EdD learning community, which will begin its required-course sequence in September 2007. All application materials must be received by Graduate Admissions in order for you to be considered for a particular admission cycle.
The application deadlines are October 15, 2007, February 15, 2008, October 15, 2008, February 15, 2009.
After admission, students may take elective credits and petition the transfer of up to 8 semester credits that are not part of an earned graduate degree. Students should note that after admission they will be charged doctoral tuition for all Hamline courses.
Application Review
Applicants will be reviewed and selected based on the following qualifications:
- A master’s degree from a regionally accredited university;
- Three or more years of relevant work experience;
- Completion of the admission application form;
- Personal statement of educational aims;
- References: Three letters of recommendation, at least two from instructors familiar with the applicant’s learning and leadership capacity;
- Submission of a short, article-length piece of writing (ten pages) demonstrating ability to synthesize and portray thinking about a critical issue in education (click here for more information); and
- Interview with a faculty committee.

To apply online, you will need to create a Login ID of up to 9 alphanumeric characters and a six-digit PIN number. Please remember to write down your ID and PIN as this will allow you to begin the application form, save it, and then finish at a later time. You may cut and paste the text for your application essay into the application form if you wish or you may choose to send it directly to the address below. If you do so, please note that in the appropriate section of the online application.
