Become a licensed teacher!

Hamline's School of Education offers several initial teaching license programs.

Undergraduate programs

Minor in Education
Undergraduate students pursuing a teaching license in Minnesota do not major in education. They complete a full liberal arts major in the field of their choice and a minor in education to earn a Minnesota teaching license.

Postbaccalaureate programs

Postbaccalaureate teaching license
Prospective teachers who already have a bachelor's degree can earn a Minnesota teaching license through Hamline's postbaccalaureate teaching license program.

Graduate programs

Master of Arts in Teaching
The School of Education's MAT program prepares students for the initial teaching license while earning a master’s degree. Ideal for working adults who want to fulfill their intention of entering a meaningful profession to make a difference in the lives of young people.
