At Hamline we understand the connection between literacy and academic success. The Center for Literacy & Learning (CLL) is on the cutting edge of the latest research and perspectives on classroom literacy instruction. We provide practitioner-focused graduate courses that support and empower teachers to increase students' literacy achievement.

The Center for Literacy & Learning:

  • Is dedicated to supporting teachers to become lifelong learners, leaders in their schools and communities, and agents of change.
  • Focuses pedagogy on a balanced literacy approach to instruction.
  • Honors and recognizes teacher’s experiences and expertise as critical factors in effective literacy instruction.

As a CLL student, you can:

  • Focus on your passion. We offer graduate certificates in Book Arts, Children's literature, Writing or Literacy, and the K-12 Reading License.
  • Learn from the best. Our instructors are grounded in P-12 practice and are drawn from the local and national literacy community.
  • Become an expert. Growing your skills translates into greater opportunities for you and your students.
