Application Guidelines & Procedures

 

All international students must complete the International Student Application.

Transfer students must have completed a high school diploma or equivalent and have enrolled in a post-secondary institution. 

Students that have pursued Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) as high school students without having graduated from high school are not considered transfer students.  Please review the application materials for first year students

 

A complete transfer application includes the following:  

  1. A completed online application and personal statement submitted before the admission plan deadline.

    Note: Letters of recommendation are encouraged, but not required. 

  2. All transcripts from every post-secondary institution attended.   Transcripts should be sent to Hamline directly from the institution's registrar. 

  3. Transfer applicants who have completed less than one year of full-time college course work (32 semester credits or 48 quarter credits) must submit the following:
    1. Official high school transcripts sent to Hamline directly from your high school. 
    2. ACT or SAT results sent to Hamline from the College Board or your high school (Institutional code for ACT is 2114, for SAT 6265

The Office of Undergraduate Admission may request additional materials.

Note: Admission interviews are not required for all applicants.  However, transfer students are encouraged to visit campus and meet with an admission counselor prior to enrollment at Hamline.

 

Admission Plans and Deadlines


Rolling Admission - Fall 

Application Deadline: August 1 
Transfer students applying after April 1 must have all application materials on file in the Office of Undergraduate Admission by August 1. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Accepted students are sent class registration materials after the $100 comprehensive deposit is received. All fall term deposits are refundable until May 1.


Rolling Admission - Spring 

Application Deadline: Rolling 
Transfer students applying for the spring term should have all application materials on file in the Office of Undergraduate Admission by January 15th. Completed files will be accepted after this date. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and accepted students are sent class registration materials after the $100 comprehensive deposit is received.
Deposits for spring entrance are not refundable. 

 

Admission Guidelines for Transfer Students

TRANSFER ADMISSION GUIDELINES
To be considered for admission to Hamline, the applicant must be eligible to return to the institution from which he or she wishes to transfer, or have graduated from that institution. Applicants must have earned an overall grade point average of C (2.0) in all college courses completed. Enrolling students are generally expected to have a 2.5 grade point average. Students with 2.0 - 2.5 grade point averages may be considered for admission.

Students who have earned less than 32 semester credits or the equivalent must also submit a copy of their official high school transcript with their admission materials. We reserve the right to request high school transcripts for any transfer applicant.
