Get to know Brian.....
College admission has changed and yet much has stayed the same since 1980 (that’s when I started working at Hamline). Students and parents need to determine the best college match. I remind families to focus on the important things: academic programs, location, college size, and opportunities for involvement. Don’t get swept into where your friends are going to college or what the guidebooks say. My tips: do a campus visit on a typical class day, meet students and faculty, attend a class; make a final decision after you’ve heard about scholarships and financial aid availability. Your goal is to make a good college choice after a thorough review of several colleges, not to make a fast decision to be done with the process! As you have observed I’m full of advice. I really enjoy working with families; it’s the most rewarding part of my job.
