 My Travel Schedule

Get to know Ann....

Hello! I am starting my eighth year in the Admission Office at Hamline University. I graduated from Creighton University in Omaha, NE and worked for the Creighton Admission office for eight years before joining the Hamline admission staff in 2000. I was totally undecided about my major when I started college but a great public speaking class my sophomore year convinced me to pursue a major in Organizational Communication and a minor in Management. I had planned to work in human resources or training and development but found work in the admission field and have never looked back.

I love my job because I get to work with great students. I keep a candy dish in my office for visitors and our student workers. I enjoy traveling around the U.S. and hope to travel abroad in the next year.  I love college football and basketball, and I am a voracious reader. I enjoy fiction and non-fiction--especially history books and biographies and also enjoy reading the New Yorker and Entertainment Weekly.

Fun Facts

Which talent would you most like to have?
I wish I could ice skate. Skaters always look so graceful and flawless when they perform. When I skate, it's nothing like you see on TV:)

What is your motto/favorite quote:
"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined." Henry David Thoreau  It's easy to get caught up in the day to day dramas and responsibilities but you have to really take time to live the life you want to have.

What other job would you most like to have?
Secretly (I guess it's not a secret anymore) I wish I had the courage to try to be a stand-up comic. My friends and some of my visitors think I'm pretty funny and have encouraged me to try stand-up. I think I'm not ready to perform outside my comfort zone with family and friends. Also, it seems like you would have to TRY to be funny if you do stand-up and I don't really try to be funny.

Favorite Movies:   Pride and Prejudice (The BBC and the movie version), So I Married an Axe Murderer, Sweetland, Waitress

Last Great Book I Read:  Population 485:  Meeting Your Neighbors one Siren at a Time by Michelle Perry, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
