The forensic
sciences involve the application of scientific principles and analytical methods
to criminal investigations. Careers in
forensic science are strongly interdisciplinary and require a strong background
in the natural sciences, laboratory experience, and knowledge of the criminal
justice system. Forensic scientists are
variously involved with crime scene investigation, evidence collection,
analysis and interpretation of evidence, and the communication of their results
and conclusions in written reports and through expert testimony in a court of
law.
Hamline's Forensic
Sciences Certificate program recognizes the wide variety of forensic
disciplines and tailors itself to best prepare students for their chosen career
path. Career counseling and personal
advising ensure completion of an individualized program of study.

opportunities after completion of the certificate. Students emerge from the program prepared for
employment in a variety of venues including law enforcement agencies, forensic
science laboratories, medical examiner/coroner offices, human-rights
organizations, private consulting businesses, and many others. The location of Hamline in the Twin Cities
also offers students exceptional opportunities for experience, research, and
